Combat

Combat in Westeros is complex and challenging. While it does included the classic player-versus-player combat that the core game and factions servers share, there is much more you have at your disposal than donning armor and swinging swords.

Claiming Land

When you join one of the noble Houses, you will not be able to change the land claimed by your House. This pre-determined claimed region is known as your Capitol. Here, your builds cannot be modified by players outside your House and you are safe from harm as long as you are not at war with another House. Heads of House can change inter-House relations and contact an owner if they'd like to modify land claims. Everywhere else on the continent is free for you to explore, build, and contest, but at your own risk. Anything done in the "wilderness" regions should be protected with troops (see below) or with a vigilant mindset!

Troops

If you are the playtime rank of Lord or higher, and higher than a faction rank of Recruit in your House, you may purchase and command troops for your House! There are 5 types of troops you can call to aid, and each has a different cost (money, not gold), stats, and abilities. Don't forget to heal your troops by feeding them bread! By default they will only attack if they are attacked or a member of your House is attacked. All info can be found below, or in the "Training Guide" available from General Jullen.

      Troop Types

Archer - $6400, ranged attacks, low health

Swordsman - $6400, melee attacks, moderate health

Knight - $32000, melee attacks, high health and damage, slow speed

Shadowbinder - $12800, magic attacks and healing, moderate health

Direwolf - $32000, melee attacks, high damage and speed, moderate health

      Troop Commands

/fm spawn <troop type> purchase and summon the desired troop at your location

      /fm order <command> command the troops you've selected (right-click)

follow your troops will follow you wherever you go

movetopoint your troops will move to the block you are looking at

stop your last transportation command will be cancelled

gohome your troops will return to where they were summoned

attackall your troops will attack all monsters and any player not in your House

forgive your troops will stop attacking all monsters and players

      Rules of Engagement

  1. You can only summon troops from you Capitol, or land you own.

  2. No one House may possess a standing army of more than 50 troops.

  3. Troops will only attack players if they are instructed to "attack all", if they are attacked, or if they see a member of their House attacked. Subsequently, they will not stop attacking until they are instructed to "forgive". See commands below.

  4. You must be a Lord (playtime rank) and Member (House rank) or higher to purchase and command troops.

War

War is an inevitable part of life, especially in the world of Game of Thrones. Friendly confrontation and lore-appropriate battles are encouraged on our server! With such a complex server and even more complex reference material, waging war (and more importantly, the outcomes of war) are not straightforward. Below is a summary of what can happen when example House A conquers example House B:

  • Upon defeat, House B will have their name changed to "House A Bannermen".

  • Houses A and B will become allies (because they're essentially the same House now).

  • House B will have their Head of House removed from power, since House A is your new leader.

  • House B will become an "annexed" location of House A, and will have to follow their orders just as they'd follow the orders of their own leader or the King.

Other forms of Combat

Westeros is a unique place, with many different types of fighting styles. Not all warriors use a traditional set of armor and a sword. Some may use guerrilla tactics, poisons, warhammers, shields, ranged weapons, pets/minions, mercenaries, and magic. All of these alternative methods can be crafted or purchased in-game. Explore your crafting table and speak with citizens around Westeros to create or find these useful items!

If you'd like to practice your one-on-one combat skills without any risk of losing items, or if you have an argument to dispute, try using dueling! You can challenge any player to a duel with /duel <username>. You will choose a kit, an arena, and can bet on the outcome of the duel! You won't lose any items but also can't bring any items into the duel.

Lastly, combat isn't for everyone - nor should it be. Many of us in Westeros have more important things to do than swing a sword around for hours in the hope we can defeat our enemies. For those more sophisticated, you can place a bounty on a player you need eliminated. Simply do so with /bounties and any player who takes out the target will be paid the reward you've posted.
